Opera Mobile 8.65 does work on the Nokia n97!

Opera Mobile 8.65 does work onthe Nokia n97 with some caveats. I attach below quite a few screenshots showing opera in use on my n97. The n97 has to be in an open qwerty position due to the fact that opera will only work via the use of the 4 way navigation keypad and the onscreen menu options.

Those caveats I mentioned are you can not use full-screen mode. If you attempt to do so, opera will crash.

You can switch between other opens apps and continue to use the phone as normal with the qwerty open. If you close the slide, opera will close immediately.

I have used Opera mobile since my very first symbian handset the 6600. I do not know, if ever, we will see opera mobile 9.5 or 9.7 for the nokia s60v3 or s60v5. The above method is an acceptable alternative for me due to the fact that I am a great fan of opera mobile's small-screen-rendering. One thing I do miss however, is browsing one-handedly with the handset in the closed position.

Have you made the switch to nokia's default browser? Or, like me, you are grateful that opera mobile 8.65 works in an acceptable fashion for the majority of your browsing.
