Quick Fix for N97 Camera Glass being marked by the Slide cover
Posted by Dani in News, Nokia, SymbianTake a small plastic tool and put it down the side of the camera cover and pop the cover off. (Click on the images for a close-up view). Take care so you do not scratch/damage any parts of the camera.
Next clean the back of the camera cover with a dry cloth. You can even sand-down the middle part a little if you want to (although it is not needed with this fix). then get some tape and cut two small pieces to put over the two small parts that stick out (refer to 1 and 2 in the image above). Make sure the tape wraps around the two side parts. Do it neat so you do not see the tape. For this I used clear tape.
Next you need to get the end of the spring out of the small slot that it sits in, be steady here so you do not damage the spring, it is quite strong so do not worry.
Next fit the end of the spring into the small hole on the n97s camera compartment and slide one side of the cover back into the slot it sits in. Then get your tool again and put the camera cover back in the same way we took it out. It will just snap into place, nice and easy.
That is all you need to do. You now have a fixed n97 camera cover that wont scratch and ruin your images. Also you will notice the cover is a much better fit and feels solid with no looseness. Also it will no longer rattle (if you had a rattle in the first place). Enjoy! Thanks go to Biggzy SymbianScientist for this solution and for allowing the use of his images.
Note:You undertake the above at your own risk and the author can not be held responsible for any fault that may occur on your mobile phone. This may also invalidate your warrantee so be sure to remove the tape should you need to take your phone into service for any reason.
