Facebook shun is 'social suicide'. What is Privacy?, written by Matthew, a University of Portsmouth graduate, based his research on the online phenomenon.
Matthew continues… people are revealed much more to users that are unknown to them in reality than they would face to face with a stranger. He feels people are put under pressure to reveal themselves for fear of becoming social outcasts. Social networking sites have grown into an extention of the mobile phone and become a fashion accessory. Matthew's research found that out of 85% of women he quizzed for his book, admitted having strangers contact them via Facebook.
