The government funded MTHR (Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research Programme) has launched a 30-year study on the health of 250,000 Europeans which includes 100,000 Britons. Professor Challis previously headed the MTHR of which he is still a member. However, John Cooke, executive director of the Mobile Operators Association, representing the industry stated '…advice from World Health Organisations is that there is no need for any special precautions for the use of mobile phones for adults or children…'
