I have had a good relationship with typepad.com up until the past two years when I have wanted to stretch my horizons and in doing so move my blog from typepad.com to wordpress.com and what a sad occasion it has been. No amount of cajoling, help forums or the help of friends have managed to prise from the clutches of typepad my images, links or files barring the text export from my blog. For some unreasonable explanation typepad links your images to some obscure ‘being’ necessitating the manual download of each individual image, renaming each individual image or paying for a third-party to ‘move’ your blog. Having created my blog over four years ago neither of those options appeared conducive to my inner sanity so eventually I had no choice but to export my blog as it is to wordpress. You will no doubt find posts with broken images. That I can not help. Perhaps one day when I have more time I will be able to extract the images from the ftp downloads that kind friends have managed to do for me. But, for now, enjoy my website and do not be too unkind when you find images adrift. They reside in the twilight zone.
My advice to anyone creating a blog or website, do not use typepad. It will be utter hell when or if you decide to make a change. Start as you mean to go on and find a site that allows you the facility to move your complete website intact.
