It was on and then it was off. The Nokia Ovi Map Workshop was in the dire situation of having finished before it started. The ash cloud in Iceland travelled across the United Kingdom and caused chaos in Edinburgh with the closure of the airport on Tuesday, 24 May. The first of the Berlinmapsters was in danger of being unable to attend and the dilemma now visited me when the cloud moved to London. However, Wednesday, 25 May saw Edinburgh airport re-opened. However, further bad news was on the horizon with the closure of Berlin’s airport due to the ash cloud now hanging over Germany, causing the potential cancellation of other Berlinmapsters’ flights. My suitcase had yet to be packed. I was determined not to pack until I knew for sure that someone would allow my arrival into Berlin. But, luck was on our side, with hours to spare Berlin’s airspace was re-opened in the early afternoon allowing us to board our evening flights and arrive to Berlin in the late evening. So far, all the Berlinmapsters appear on course to be at the event scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, 26 May. I look forward to updating you once I have caught up with the ‘dream-team’. Watch this blog for the next update to the Berlinmapsters.
