11+ Mobile Phones

Prior to mobile phone technology the right of passage into adulthood was marked by gaining the age of 18 or in some cases 21.

New survey suggests this ‘right of passage to adulthood’ is now marked with a child’s first mobile phone, generally at age 12 when they are going through the transition from primary to secondary school.  At 15, 82 percent of teenagers will own a mobile phone, surprisingly 49 per cent of children will have their first mobiles before the age of 11.

On average, once in their hot little hands, the average child makes eight calls a week and sends approximately 25 texts.
