Apple’s Lion iOX is very near to its final release date of 14 July. But, our eyes are firmly set on the release of iOS5 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Beta versions have been with developers for several weeks now with beta 3 presently in pole position.  The favourite aspect of iOS5 appears to be Notifications.  Readily available in other major handsets, notifications was sadly lacking in iOS and is eagerly looked forward to. Here we take a look at how one developer, Malcolm Barclay, uses his initiative in interweaving Notifications into his application. Malcolm is the developer of the successful app Tube Deluxe. Tube Deluxe’s standard application view lists works and delays over the tube system. We can see how this result is incorporated into the new iOS5 Notification system and how the feature would alert you to delays on your journey.
