Read the rest of this entry » Apple is calling a news event on 4 October 2011. The latest rumour which we are sure is the ‘real thing’ this time around is for a press media release. However, the question still hanging on everyone’s lips is will it be the iPhone 4S a slimmed down version of a forthcoming iPhone 5 with a few improvements to the present iPhone 4? Fearful of the iPhone 4 launch shenanigans, which some still view as the ‘best’ pre-launch and advertising campaign that one could ask for – Apple is attempting to control the situation by holding the event on the home ground of Cupertino. Tim Cook, the successor to Steve Jobs is to produce the juicy details next week. The new iPhone 4S/5 is expected to have an 8 megapixel camera with flash, full notification system and the long eagerly awaited iMessage and iCloud. Tags: apple, iPhoneThe eagerly anticipated Nokia N9 was officially launched today. The Nokia N9 has impressed us with its AMOLED, 1 GHz processor, 8 megapixel camera with flash and the excellent MeeGo operating system. Unfortunately MeeGo is no longer being actively pursued by Nokia and is regarded by some in the industry as a developmental dead end. Unfortunately to spread more harm than good, on this very same day Microsoft launched the Mango update to Windows Phone. Some would say this is not so co-incidental at all. MeeGo has been the centre of discussion of late with talks of a merger with mobile Linux distro LiMo, used on more than 20 mobile devices by Panasonic and NEC, majorly in Japan. Seattle’s, Intel’s Elements 2011 will bring more discussion about this possibility. Tags: maemo/meego, NokiaFriends at Clove Technology have said that the HTC Rhyme is to be available on 8 October.
