It would appear that nothing, absolutely nothing is sacred in the industry.

If you are not coming across Apple prototypes neglected in local pubs, it is your own company revealing its assets to the world.

In a new form to the inventiveness of ‘name-dropping’ the second windows phone to come out of the collaboration between Microsoft and Nokia is revealed to be the ‘Sabre’. The traditional form of ‘sabre’ is the name for a cutting-edged sword and not that of Star Wars, Luke Skywalker’s ‘light-sabre’ that you may be more familiar with. The naming of products inevitably leads us to make all sorts of conclusions about a handset before we are aware if the ‘name’ is finalised when the product launches or whether it is a prototype name. Either way the ‘sabre’ has been named in Microsofts recent Canadian competition. Further details on how you can take part in the competition is here.

Rather late to the party, Microsoft has removed the named ‘sabre’ as a rather late offensive to keep the cat in the bag.

Nevertheless, the ‘sabre’ remains a mysterious product until Microsoft decides to include us again in a little more information either mistakenly or purposefully.
