Amazon has achieved the coup-de-resistance by acquiring the rights to publish the Queen’s Christmas speech. Her Majesty’s tradition Christmas Day message at 3pm will be available as a free download on the Amazon Kindle and from within the Amazon Kindle app, for example on the iPhone and Android. But let us face the truth here – there is free and there is FREE. It will be free for us to download but imagine the potential FREE advertising that Amazon will get to push while customers browse the site. There continues to be an enormous fascination with the Queen and she continues to be the head of State for the UK and regarded as such for many others. I, for one, will be eagerly looking forward to downloading the speech although I traditionally avoid them each and every Christmas. Perhaps the new medium is changing my observations.
