Networks are in turmoil with the onset of Apple’s new iMessage initiative. iMessage takes away revenue from the networks by using Apple’s own protocols to send and receive messages without charge from one iPhone/iPad/ or iPod iTouch user to another. With such innovation, networks have been scurrying around in a spin to find other ways to hold on to the revenue that will be lost once iMessage is released to the public. Vodafone is the first of the networks to bring in tariff changes. Vodafone is the biggest network in the UK so do not be lulled into a false sense of security that the other networks will not follow suite at a later time. Read more on the story here.

Orange is due to start selling the Apple iPhone in two weeks time with a preliminary date of 10 November.
The Orange iPhone will be available via Orange stores and also Phones4U. Carphone Warehouse is expected to also stock the Orange iPhone for sale through its independent stores. Orange's start date for sales comes at the time that Vodafone will announce its half year results.
Consumers are looking forward to an ultimate price war with more than one network now offering the iPhone but UK Orange boss, Tom Alexander told the Guardian 'that the company is more likely to look at other ways of increasing value, such as including accessories and even pre-loading certain applications'.

Orange has disputed analysts’ claims that Vodafone will take the Lion's share of iPhone 3G and 3GS sales throughout next year. Analysts claim Vodafone's strength on the global market and its ability to target the business segment will spur sales, leaving Orange and O2 trailing in terms of iPhone sales numbers.
