Today is the first day of the VLN championship. After a mammoth breakfast it was time to make our way to the Nurburgring. If, none of the above makes sense, you need to read Part 1 and then pop back here to read part 2.
After breakfast, a scuffle commenced in the hotel lobby as free N8′s (to keep) were handed out to the team, colours were swapped and exchanged and the colour pink was available. Poor show!!! Read more
By anyone’s stretch of imagination, this is not something I planned as one of my things to do in life before I die, nor something that had remotely crossed my mind. Yes, I like watching Formula 1 and other extreme sports but never ever thought I would want to take part or watch the action beyond the television screen. It is just over a week since returning from the VLN championships with team Peugeot and Nokia and I am still on a ‘high’, just writing this and thinking about it, is getting me ever more excited as I recall the events. Part 1 – The Great Escape.
Touch down at Cologne (Koln) Airport in Germany and after leaving a rainy England, I had hoped to find something different but it appears the rain has followed.
For those of you who have never flown before or are a little scared of flying check out the video below. It shows you the true magnificence of a flight in progress followed by some feature shots. I hope you like them. Flying is a truly exhilarating experience as is driving. We look forward to the big race and we wish Team Peugeot RCZ Nokia the best of luck.
27 August 2011 – Nürburg, Germany, The VLN championship, Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring (Association of NürburgringEndurance Cup Organisers) race throughout the year at the famous Nurburgring – ‘the most beautiful and most demanding race track in the world. Each VLN race is held as a ‘one day event’.
If Nurburgring sounds familiar it is because it forms part of the F1 (Formula One) Grand Prix championships with three events, the German Grand Prix, the European Grand Prix and the Luxembourg Grand Prix. Construction on the Nurburgring started in 1925 with completion and its first race event held in 1927.
Team Peugeot RCZ Nokia were proud participants in the 24 Hours Nürburgring race last month. The team won 1st place in the D1T (Diesel category) and came in 54th overall (out of 200 cars). The following is a video which highlights the race.
The VLN has a Nokia entry this year under Team Peugeot RCZ Nokia. The competition has almost 200 cars enrolled in the race.
I will be attending the VLN to watch TEAMPEUGEOT RCZ NOKIA in action with an opportunity to meet some of the pilots. The race is to held on 27 August 2011 and we look forward to your support.
