I have read until I can read no more. I have checked forums, videos, reviews and the rest. There are reviews made up of those who love it and those who hate it. There are some who say it takes a little getting used to and others who find it too small. But, I remain undecided about the merits of the BlackBerry PlayBook Mini KeyBoard.

I do own a MacBook Air and when I need to write assignments for university or do in-depth ‘stuff’, I will take my Air to the library for a day full of study. However, when those periods are over, my Air stays at home – until the next mammoth round of study comes along. So, I would say that on average, my Air has a month of crazy everyday usage, out and about, and then sits at home for the two months in-between ( I have a MacBook Pro, so the Air is only used when I am away from home).

However, I now have an Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie BlackBerry PlayBook. My reasons for buying the PlayBook are already down on paper. Basically, I bought it for media consumption. But, I also own a website or two or three. I mostly work at home for the purposes of the websites, but I am wondering if the addition of the BlackBerry PlayBook Mini KeyBoard may offer a few extra alternatives to my busy lifestyle.

Whatever, my reasons, I have succumbed and placed an order for the KeyBoard. I have no idea when it is due to arrive as BlackBerry.com at first said it was in stock, then out of stock, then something about inventory. So, I guess it will arrive when it arrives.

I think the best way to decide if the KeyBoard is for me, is to try it out for myself. You cannot get a better perspective or hands-on experience than your own. I will let you know when the KeyBoard arrives. My idea is to use the KeyBoard and the PlayBook as individual pieces without the use of the case. That way I will be able to easily enjoy my media consumption, particularly the new Harry Potter e-Book collection (Kindle format after side-loading) and I will still have the KeyBoard as an option, should I wish to use it. Both the devices are very tiny, take up little room in my handbag and I often forget that I have my PlayBook with me because of its size, until I fancy something to read or media to consume. To carry the Air, even though it is only 11″ needs thinking about and decisions made on what handbag or rucksack to use. With the BlackBerry PlayBook – I don’t think – It just fits.

I wrote earlier about the available cases for Nokia’s Lumia devices and in particular those for the Nokia Lumia 900. The Nokia Lumia comes in several different colours but what brings up the most questions is whether Cyan is Blue and Magenta is Pink. We will explore this in more depth.

As I am going through a ‘white phase’ with the iPhone, BlackBerry and Sony Xperia arc S all in white, I had resisted purchasing cases for the Black Lumia 800 as I was still in two minds whether to trade it in for a White Lumia 800.

However, my Bank Manager suggested it might be a good idea to buy the alternative colour cases before I did something stupid. He didn’t really, but seriously this was by far the better option.

I have now purchased the Blue aka Cyan and the Pink aka Magenta cases. My first message to you is that the colours are indeed Cyan and Magenta.

The Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone comes with a set of 11 different themes with which you can personalise your phone. The colour changes not only appears on the Home Tiles on the Home Screen but also take effect in many applications, for example tweets, Facebook status etc. The following colours are available: Magenta, Purple, Teal, Lime, Brown, Pink, Mango, Blue, Red, Green and Nokia Blue. Choosing any one of these colours ‘sets’ the colour preference.

This is something you need to see with the naked eye as it is hard for a camera to pick up the distinctive colours. The colour preferences of Blue and Nokia Blue do not match the Cyan case. The colour preference ‘Teal’ does provide a perfect colour match to the case.

Now we will take a look at the Magenta case. The colour preference of Pink does not match the Magenta case. The colour preference ‘Magenta’ does provide a perfect colour match. So for much of the discussion about Nokia calling its devices Cyan and Magenta – the smartphones are in reality exactly those colours, Cyan and Magenta.

Cyan is the color halfway between blue and green on the colour wheel. Cyan is made by mixing green and blue light.

Teal is a deep green/greenish-blue color; a dark cyan.

Magenta is a color in between pink and purple. Sometimes it is confused with pink or purple. In terms of the HSV color wheel, it is the color halfway between red and blue and is composed equally of red and blue (50% red and 50% blue). Another name for magenta is fuchsia, named after the fuchsia flower.

It is true that you learn something new everyday.

BlackBerry World was supposed to bring new innovations and technology to RIM’s ecosystem. In some ways it won, and in others, it lost. BlackBerry 10 will bring new devices new software and new technology. But, what about software that is already pre-existing? Where is Kindle?

I purchased my BlackBerry PlayBook less than 2 weeks ago. I am aware some will say RIM and its OS is a dying ecosystem. However, I do not feel this to be the case, hence my purchase. BlackBerry 10 has been promised for my PlayBook later this year and I look forward to this happening.

I succumbed to Apple’s iPad, but it did not bring me the tablet experience that I wished for. I am a lover of technology that can do many things, rather than one single thing, hence I have never felt the zest or inclination for a dedicated Kindle and so resisted that avenue. However, I am an avid reader but I have been unable to fulfil this passionate love on devices previously owned. However, I do have Kindle on my iPhone, Android, Windows, Symbian, Mac and any other smartphone device that I own or trial and it is one of the first applications that I install to any new device. I like to keep my devices in tune with one another, hence why the sync facility exists. But, for some reason there is no Kindle for BlackBerry. How did that happen? I do not know. But it has, and I am not one to put up with the status quo. Why should I purchase a complete set of my library for a new device when I already have an existing library in Kindle?

The PlayBook comes with a reader Kobo, downloaded from the BlackBerry Store. However, there is no facility to get my Kindle Books already purchased or to sync my books. I had thought BlackBerry World would announce new partners to enhance the facilities on the PlayBook but alas, this was lacking. But there is a great support group available for BlackBerry’s PlayBook and I was passed on to someone who recommended the Android route. It was not my original preference, as I would have liked to have not gone down this road. But as it was, it was quick, simple and easy and completed in two minutes.

Jennifer Lopez’s new video is riding high in the charts and along with her dizzying heights follows all eyes on BlackBerry.

In her new video J. Lo features with song artists Wisin & Yandel and the three are connected in the opening scenes via Twitter for BlackBerry. Various devices are in use, though the twitter on display isn’t a realistic view of Twitter, though I do like the way it is represented. The BlackBerry devices on show include the BlackBerry Bold 9900,a blue curve 9220 and a Verizon branded Bold 9930.

The video was shot in Acapulco, Mexico. Secretary of Tourism, Graciela Baez Ricardez had this to say:

the video clip will help reposition the image of the port. “The music video will be seen in many countries and millions of times mainly by young people who will make decisions on where to go to take a vacation soon,”

In under three weeks the video has gone viral reaching 5 million views. This can only be good news for BlackBerry as celebrities using smartphone devices have a major influence on audiences purchase power. We hope to see BlackBerry continue to rise in prominence in other fields of advertising.

It’s nearly Mother’s day, 13 May for some countries. I think we have already had ours in the UK. But, nevertheless, here is a quick run-down of so-called Mother’s Day gifts and ideas. However, in reality, they are suitable for anyone and everyone. Follow the source link for the full list.

However,  I wanted to pick out two, which I think are good value for money. the first of these is Vlingo – Virtual Assistant. I have downloaded it today, but not used it as yet, so this is not a review. However, I often download apps when they are at a bargain for future potential use. The Vlingo aids you by allowing you to talk your way through your needs. But, for a limited time, you can get the additional plus/paid for features for free – so I would suggest you download  Vlingo- Virtual Assistant today, while the offer lasts. I am not sure of the end date of the offer.

The second app for today is BeWeather (originally known as Berry Weather). It is at its basics a weather app but has so many other facilities bundled-up within it. One of the specialities behind BeWeather is the depths of its personalisation, fom 150+ weather icons to customised home screens use of themes to customise wallpaper, font and icon sizes. I had downloaded BeWeather some time ago so I cannot recall the original price – though, I think it was near to £10.00.

However, BeWeather is available free of charge until 31 May, so go and grab your copy right now. The free purchase is dependent on location as I have just found out as it is not applicable to the UK. Hopefully, it is where you are.  Download BeWeather

Samsung this evening announced the Samsung Galaxy S III. The Samsung Galaxy S III will be the Official phone for the 2012 Olympics and with it a comes a stylish matching of colours.

The new Samsung Galaxy S III will be available in ‘Pebble Blue’ and ‘White’. The S III features a 4.8 inch super ambled display and an 8 megapixel camera. The smartphone will go on sale for approximately £499 sim free when it arrives at the end of May. All the four big UK networks will be stocking Samsung’s newest Android device with a range of tariffs.

Here we take a quick view of Samsung’s first advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S III. I must say that I do like the commercial and would dearly like to know what the soundtrack is. Anyone help me here?
